It’s A/C Installation Day! Booyah!

We’re having a new air conditioner unit installed this morning, as well as some updates to our system in the whole house.  Beginning at the crack o’ dawn. *YAWN*

Happily, it will be a more energy efficient system overall once they are done, which makes me really happy.

But, there’s a downside.

This will require some lack of power to parts of the house pretty much most of the day. And much noise.

Since the ancient A/C unit fried itself on Monday, it’s been sweltering in here. Which has sucked rocks.

So whatever the fix-it gods need, they get.

I will obviously be dealing with a helluva lot of noise, much carpet tramping and dust, a very curious 6-year-old and a freaked out dachshund and kitteh.  So I won’t have much leftover for blogging today, I fear.

If there’s something I need to know about, please leave me a note in the comments.

And let’s hope it only takes a day.  Otherwise I may have to decamp to some place with WiFi — and blasting A/C — for a morning blog-o-rama tomorrow.

Cross your fingers…

Wave cash under the noses of the fix-it gods. Cash is good; threaten to pay with credit card if the gods do not seem suitably impressed by the offering of cash.

Wishing you a peaceful and suitably chilled day tomorrow.

Your A/C problems reminds me of my grandfather’s claim that A/C ruined this country by allowing Congress to stay in session more than 6 months a year.

I get your point…but please don’t say that to the school children in TX….we’re 100 + and school starts next week. ;))

Well, of course, I didn’t say it, my grandfather did and he did so in curmudgeonly jest; however, knowing him he would have pointed out that school in Texas was starting too damn early.

Now, I fully realize that A/C has been a great thing for many people. In particular, it has helped many folks that have health issues.

Have I told you that my grandfather also claimed color TV gave him a headache? That was, at least, until he could afford one.

Well, he’s right about the schools, too. It used to be, maybe still, while summer was still very hot and b/c school started, the swimming pools closed. Yikes..who makes those decisions.

I am glad his headache was relieved. Thanks.

Hey Christy,

I hope you’re reading this is a cool calm environment. Did you know that

Agriculture Secretary Vilsack Proclaims August 23-29 as National Community Gardening Week

Perhaps if you don’t have a concept for this weeks PUAC that might help.

We had the same scenario 5-6 weeks ago. Hot day, compressor started to cycle on/off continuously, house got warm even though A/C constantly runnning. So we bit the bullet and did the whole shebang: SEER 13 A/C and 95% furnace. A/C running after first day, furnace after second. Nice rebate on next years taxes.

I love the new A/C and expect big savings this winter. Unexpected was the air filter. Air Bear. Folded paper style w/ginormous surface area . Recommended change interval is 2 years. I can handle that.

Air Bear. It’ll take care of that dust problem.
