Sunday Cuppa

I know I’ve been on a bit of a cello kick lately, but this performance by Yo-Yo Ma of Dvorak’s Silent Woods (YouTube) is incredible. Very moving and lush.

Sometimes, you just have to pause and be thankful for the beauty in the world, too. Because there has to be some good to fight for, along with the things you fight against.

Take a little time to find something good in your world today. Or make something good happen for you.

You deserve it.

Never enough cello, especially Yo-Yo Ma. Thanks for sharing the link, Christy, good for listening on the deck this morning, while watching the goldfinches shuttle to and fro from our bird bath.

Today, my ’something good’ is the fact that I come from a family of storytellers. Hated it when I was a kid (only so many times you can hear the same tale about how you almost got your uncle arrested as a 6 mo. old), but I know today why we keep these stories. My great-aunt, the amazing Frances Kleeman, just passed away, and I want to hear every single story about her. With a family like mine, with 27 nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, etc. coming together, I know I won’t be disappointed.
If you’re the prayer-saying type, please add in a line for her. They don’t make ‘em that way anymore.

Beautiful. Nothing wrong with more cello, or more Yo-Yo Ma.

mathgoddess, sorry to hear about your aunt. Hope there are lots of great stories as the family gathers. I learned a great deal new about my mother-in-law when her relatives came in from out of town. We were all sad, but there was a lot of laughter as the stories were told.

My good thing – very small – but I finally got myself out of the house and down to my favorite public swimming pool yesterday. No one left around who wants to go along, and I’ve always found it hard to walk into a pool (half-naked, y’know) by myself.
But this is a beautiful, large, spring-fed, shaded pool (trees!) that makes me feel something close to bliss, just floating in the water.
It worked. Lovely. I plan to go again this afternoon. *g*

How lovely, and sustaining for the soul . . . Many gracias. My special little something, reconnecting with a true friend. Five long years, she in Tucson, me in Sacramento. The opportunity? Wharf to Wharf, Santa Cruz to Capitola. Lots of outdoor excercise, good food, Cool, cool, night. Starry, starry night – til the fog crept in on little cat feet, then a fire, Champagne, music, old stories, and bed. Spouse, old and new friends, a nearly perfect day – gratitude!
