Sunday Cuppa

I love this photograph.

The red-orange of the boat hull against the gray-blue-green of the water is so beautiful, isn’t it? Just gorgeous.

It pulls me in like a good story does, making me want to know more. See more.

Hear the water slap against the wooden hull, and feel the breeze making those ripples on the surface of the water.

Is there a town nearby?  Or is this a place of stillness and solitude?

I’d love some back story on why the boat is there.  And then find out what happens next.

We had so much fun in yesterday’s Pull Up A Chair thread talking about favorite books and travel, that I thought we might like to continue that a bit today as well.  A bit of escape perhaps.

What’s on your mind this morning? Do tell…

This year at age 51 I got my first passport. I spent 16 days in Germany in the beautiful small towns along the Neckar River in the Odenvald. The photograph that you posted reminds me of my trip up river from Heidelberg to Neckar-Steinach. Just gorgeous.

I wish I could live near an old growth forest and mountains….sigh. I made my first trip ever west of the Mississipi a couple of years ago and fell in love with Northern California. We flew in to San Francisco and drove up the coast to Cresent City and spent a week in the redwood forests. I cried the whole flight home,I didn’t want to leave. I would love to live there, even with all of CA’s issues,if I could sell our home here and find a job there that would support us,I’d go in a nanosecond.

My dream is to live on the shore. To wake up and see the sunrise over the ocean. To just sit and gaze at the waves. To walk the beach every morning and every night. It may not happen but that’s how I want my retirement years to be.

Good Sunday Morning All
That is indeed a gorgeous photo. Very peaceful.
Maybe two young lovers have brought the boat out from her grandfather’s dock. They needed time together away from the family. They are lying on a blanket on the shore, behind the camera’s eye. They have a picnic basket with fruit, cheese and bread. They have finished their meal and are reclined, held in each others arms and staring at the sky and listening birds singing in the trees.

Great photo choice, Christy. Recommend to the rest of the Firepups that they click the link below the photo and check out the rest of that photographer’s collection. Most excellent stuff, served up without a lot of fancy tricks.

Spent the day on the shore of Lake Michigan where it was sunny, cool, breezy and thankfully bug-free. It was a nice fix until I make it to my folks’ place on Lake Superior next month. There’s nothing quite like the sound of waves lashing the lake shore for relaxation.

But I missed a really great PUAC thread yesterday morning. Will take hours for me to get through it and catch up!

We’re up on Lake Superior (Eagle Harbor) where my mother was born. The weather is beautiful. I’ve taken lots of photos. Yesterday was windy and the lake had huge whitecaps. I love the Great Lakes. They are so ever changing in color and appearance.
