Only word that can possibly apply…..

Palin’s problem occurs when something she says or does crosses over into the alternate reality where the real problems of governance & public administration are dealt with. It’s not a rare syndrome for politicians, although she has an advanced case.

What was most ironic about last Friday’s press conference & subsequent statements was how her resignation is everyone else’s fault and how her choice was solely about what was in the best interest of the people of Alaska. She was right about one thing, but surely not in the way she intended:

In the Tour de Farce between future, former Governor Palin’s ambition and her incompetence, Alaska is the big winner of this stage.

Run Sarah Run. No, please. Run!

Ms. Palin, for example, said what she said, however inartful or imprecise or wrong, it’s what she said. If she didn’t understand a basic rule of law of high school civics, that’s news, not what pundits think she meant – that’s spin and cover for a fool.

If she thinks some non-existent department or legal rule will cover for her like Fox Noise, as if it were a government propaganda department, she may accurately reflect, in her idiosyncratic shorthand, what the GOP understands is the role of the DoJ. But it’s another demonstrable reason she should not hold public office.

She has absolutely no ken of the role of the White House Counsel, the U.S. Department of Justice, or the White House Chief of Staff do, let alone what her personal attorney might do were the universe to implode and permit this hare-brain to become POTUS.

Nor has she ever grokked what the First Amendment permits of citizens when they speak of elected officials and public figures, especially those with the chutzpah to accept a seat on the presidential ticket as running mate.

She continues to prove every time she opens her mouth that she is not a viable candidate for national office. God help Alaska if they ever give her the opportunity to be more than a dog catcher ever again.

Unfortunately, the republican right wields power without regard to the Constitution and rule of law. Palin exemplifies this alternative universe where Justice is an avenging angel to advance their political & moral agenda, not a blindfolded woman evaluating admissable evidence or balancing the validity of competing interests under Law.

This strikes me as nothing less than a 21st century War between the States … of mind.
