Bits and Pieces

Just a few bits and pieces from around the blogs:

–  Best headline of the week?  tbogg by a [s]mile.

– SEIU is liveblogging the Bank of America shareholders meeting.  Note the total non-arrogance of Ken Lewis in the face of shareholders who dare to question his authoritay.  Ahem.

– Who is this handsome fella? Um…yeah…the one on the right.  Anyone else just feel a tremor in the force?

– For folks who have been following things in the Gulf Coast, it’s a NOLA good news story. This is just excellent. Truly.

– Speaking of NOLA, I’m planning on having some beignets and cafe au lait at Cafe du Monde on May 19th (a Tuesday) at 10:30 am. Mr. ReddHedd will be along for the coffee fix as well.  Hope some NOLA folks can join me or drop by to say howdy. Am working on an evening drinks or something-or-other too, so if folks have suggestions or requests, let me know.

–  Why is Dawn Johnsen’s nomination still not on the Senate schedule?  Good question.

Via dday: Just when you think the stupid can’t possibly burn you more. Seriously.

Kosher flu renaming advocacy? Because authorities really need to concentrate on THAT instead of public health considerations right now. Yeppers.

– Just go read Tom Tomorrow.

– And then laugh out loud at the ludicrousity.

What’s catching your eye on the blogs or in the news?

Put the 19th on my calendar. I plan to be there. Sorry for the lack of suggestions for evening. We’re so busy between work and renovating the house, we don’t go anywhere much.

Shorter Justice Kennedy at the SCOTUS VRA hearing today:

Don’t tell me about documented, repetitive, multi-year patterns of voting rights abuse.
Facts are stupid things, and I prefer to live in an alternate universe.

When you are in New Orleans, you need to have dinner at Sara’s, a little restaurant in the Riverbend area (724 Dublin St.) where St. Charles runs into South Carrollton. It is run by two Indian gentlemen, Mac and Ganesh, who are celebrating 20 years in the business. Everything on the menu is great, and for dessert I would recommend the white chocolate mango cheesecake. They have a full bar and a good variety of wines to go with the excellent food.

Hours at Sara’s – Dinner only

Have a wonderful time! Be sure and read a Times-Picyune whilst Du Monding! Purchase some praline for the Peanut. While many flock to the Pat O’Brian’s for the Hurricane, I’d suggest te Olde Absinthe House for the magic and mystery of the Absinthe cocktail – it makes for tasty kissing. Adjacent is Tony Morans’ where SPouse and I shared the finest fettucine alfredo and a rib-eye with rosemary reduction. Simply WOW!
