And Now For Something Completely Different…

Because reading nothing but torture memos for the last few weeks is beginning to depress the hell out of me.

It’s a diversionary, fluffy, adorable kitteh!

I needed a break.

Thought you all could use one as well.  Consider this an open discussion thread for those who need one.

What a sweet gesture, Christy. Not everyone wants to talk torture alla the time. Not saying it isn’t a really important issue. I too would like to avoid ulcers.
Cute kitty. My dog wants to play with it. Prolly not a good idea. He’s kind of big and doesn’t know his own strength.

Thanks Christy,

watching the sticks fall off darth’s dam of lies and float downstream is getting kinda hectic. you always seem to know what the pups need. please take care during this bumpy ride, and thanks for pointing out all those *sticks * as the dam i think is prolly gonna breach.

pups givin the ew thermometer a fever. gotta love it.

Frankly, I’m still reading torture memo information to prep for the PHR chat this afternoon.

But the kitteh is still a cutie patootie.

Just went with my mother (82) to look for her lost cat at the local animal shelter. Filled with sweet homeless cats and dogs. Amazing volunteers. My mom signed up.

Have you ever seen folks who bring their dogs into assisted living or nursing homes. All of our seniors just light up!

Leen – my mom spent her last few months in the dementia unit of a local Methodist nursing home and the head nurse of the unit used to bring her dogs(one at a time) into the unit every single day. Everyone loved those dogs – and they were not cute dogs at all. As I recall, all of them were big, German Shepherd and shepherd mix doggies but they were the kid of dogs that just came over and seemed to know what the resident needed, whether it was head in the lap, just sitting there next to them or whatever.

OT. Sir Timothy Geithner is speaking now. Prince Geithner’s introduction described his experience with Heinz A. Kissinger Associates. It’s the same speech Sir Tim given since day one. The “O”-man just spoke; he wants us to inflate our tires to save money. It’s clear they plan to keep the “downturn” for another year.

HAPPY EARTH DAY Y’ALL!

In following my tradition of staying at home, saving gas, and celebrating Earth Day by planting something, I’m sitting here with different kinds of seeds in front of me, and thinking…petunias? more lavender? nasturtiums? shasta daisies?

Or maybe something edible – more strawberries? radishes?

Should I plant in one of my many empty planters or pots? In the naturalized area by the creek? In one of the prepared beds?

The original plan was for sweet peas – but days of rain when I had an opportunity to plant have left the trellis in the box and the bed unprepared, so….

Decisions, decisions…. whatever I decide, I’ll be in my happy place – hands in the dirt, sun on my shoulders, and southern wind in my hair.

There’s something to be said for simple pleasures.

With so much dark news coming out these days, here’s hoping all of us can find our happy places and simple pleasures to counter the darkness.

On a tangent – after watching “The Colbert Report” during lunch today, I googled George Will’s column on evil denim and the downfall of society.

Here ya go:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/…..02861.html

He says he only owns one pair of jeans, and those were worn once, because they were pretty much required dress code for where he was.

Give it a read – and remember, next time you put on your most comfortable jeans and running shoes, that in spite of everything we’re dealing with in this country right now, YOU, and your collection of denim, are MAJOR IRRITANTS destroying George Will’s version of America.

Bless his heart – that explains soooo much!

And today also a crazy day: in a meeting this morning with coworker so happy about the teabag (great fun)event attended and how cute/great Beck is…..Insults are not allowed at work, dontcha know?

Long as we’re doing diversion, here’s a little album of my lil urban garden.

*grinning here* I wear denim too, nearly every day..not really to protest..then again, subconciously, maybe it is, in a way…

I spent years sitting at a desk facing a computer monitor, going to useless meetings with people in suits, wearing uncomfortable clothes, taking notes and being politic, waiting for my turn to speak on some trivial minutia…

And now I don’t. Today’s uniform is shorts or cotton sundresses… tank tops or sports bras…. bare feet or running shoes…with dirt under my fingernails and sweat on my face…

And now that it’s starting to get hot here in Tennessee.. well, to quote my 73 year old dad – “I only wear clothes because everybody else does” *laughin*

There is something to be said for living way out in the sticks.

Damn I’m looking forward to skinny dipping time again.

Christy – Thanks for this thread.

I had all four of my felines – Bella, Simba, Tripod, and Midnight – laying in the sun on the porch and stairs today, watching me work in the gardens.

The look on their faces said, it’s a very good day to be a cat.

(Dixie, the lone canine, was mostly getting in the way, but she agreed – it was a very good day)

I hope I come back as some very kind person’s cat. And I hope that person has a garden…
