Sigh. Cornyn is so embarrassing (for Texans). There was a time, when he was a mere District Judge, that he seemed to be intelligent and reasonable.

I guess he just hadn’t had the opportunity yet to reveal what an a–h—/idiot he really was. Possibly, even, he hadn’t yet become such a party-line-spouting-verbal-mimeograph knee-jerk “agin-er” of everything of value.

Sadly, I was not surprised he was re-elected. Noriega was outgunned, especially financially. And of course, he had a small disadvantage in time to campaign, given he was on active reserve (or was it Nat’l Guard?) duty during the campaign.
On behalf of my adopted state, I apologize to everyone else once again for the “distinguished” Senator.

Bingo! Sexism may be the tactic, but the motivation is that Johnson has clearly (as compared to the wishy-washiness of Eric Holder) shown contempt for the Dick Cheney view of executive power and privilege. If the unseriousness of womanhood is the best attack the GOP can muster against someone who recognizes the intended role of OLC, to offer clear guidelines with which the executive branch must legally comply, then perhaps that is a good sign. In fact, I wonder if what came across as male chauvinism was really more of the same nonsense about how anyone who would dare to smear any current or past (Republican) president with accusations of criminality must simply be some kind of dirty hippy.

“The low point of the hearing took place when Senator Cornyn (R-TX) suggested that Ms. Johnsen shouldn’t head the OLC because she lacked the ~~“requisite seriousness”~~ “requisite testicles” needed for the job.
There, fixed that to reflect the truth according to Sen. Cornyn.

& I hate realizing that a 16% majority of my fellow Texans who voted last November preferred this s.o.s. to the dem, Rick Noriega… And I even more hate to mention the many times I’ve seen people driving old beater cars w/a McCain-Palin bumper sticker, here in Austin!
