There are any number of things that I find amusing about this whiny rant from Mickey Kaus.

As a non-member of Journo-list, I want to say for the record: it’s just a little too "the sky is falling."

Honestly, the big "News at 11" is that liberals talk with each other? Because the mighty conservative wurlitzer apparently doesn’t exist in Mickey’s world?!? Or is it that IOKIYAR?

Personally, I wonder if the larger agenda is that Mickey doesn’t have keys to the clubhouse? Don’t we have bigger problems to deal with these days than worrying about something this banal?

The funniest part by far, though? An attempt to insinuate that Spencer Ackerman is potentially led by the nose in a sort of groupthink cabal.

Bwahahahahahaha…

Clearly he’s never actually met Spencer.

“Clearly he’s never met Spencer” and if in future he does, he’s unlikely to find it to be an enjoyable experience.

Don’t know if you caught Jay Rosen’s and Scott Rosenberg’s tweets about media; it’s incredible to watch the implosion of the print media world through their eyes ( and tweets).

Kaus’ comments sound a lot like the kind of clueless feedback traditional print journos offer up, like those Rosen/Rosenberg note as out of touch. Is Kaus worried about this generational shift happening before his eyes, one in which he is now not on the cutting edge but passe and old-school?

Is this the real exclusion about which he’s railing — not circled-up-the-wagons-left-wing exclusion, but an exclusion in newer networking via social media which he doesn’t grok?

Maybe Kaus is right about the insular nature, but he’s viewing from the inside out as someone nobody really wants to Friend in a Facebook world, and instead of recognizing the reasons he’s not Friended, he rails at exclusion.
