EFCA: Fergawdssakes, Stop The Scare Tactics

I don’t know about you, but I’m sick of GOP vapors and scare tactics. As Digby said:

I’ve been hearing rumblings since the election that Democrats in congress were getting wobbly on the Employee Free Choice Act and that the administration was inclined to push it down the agenda. Presumably this is because the wingnuts are planning to stage a mass case of the maidenly vapors the minute they bring it. It’s one of those bizarre issues that animates the cretins, like tort reform, purely because of the slogan.

The Employee Free Choice Act isn’t the end of civilization, no matter what Biff and Bunny told you at the yacht club.

And frankly, given the business track record of several of the CEOs featured in the above video, who get the vapors every time EFCA comes up?  I have to say that supporting EFCA just got even easier.

It’s more than that, though: it makes economic sense and it’s good for working families.

But why let that get in the way of a perpetual wingnutty lie?

SEIU, who produced this video, has more.

PS — No kidding:  put down liquids before viewing.  You have been warned…

Still laughing my ass off, Matt. It’s like watching the “dramatic chipmunk“…only with CEOs instead. *G*

Oh my. Well, it ought to get attention, at least. When the video began, my soundly sleeping cats sat up and looked around in alarm.
They totally ignore tv screaming, gunshots, etc.

Pardon me for ‘talking” so much, but – more teeth-gnashing about who gets to frame our “discourse” (h/t to Atrios and Kos/KagroX):

From Politico:

Moderates worry Pelosi is routinely staking very liberal positions to push House versions of big bills as far to the left as possible to enhance their standing in negotiations with the historically centrist Senate. This might be a smart tactic, but it often hurts Democrats who rely on Republican votes to win reelection. Put bluntly, it makes them look too liberal.

Looking up the Politico original, I see this is about – cramdown.
“Too liberal.”
Criminy! Have these people seen Obama’s polls? Have they seen Pelosi’s numbers this year, since she started shutting down Repubs, as opposed to last year, when she caved to them on everything?
It ain’t just the Bush people who live in a “non-reality-based” world. Sigh.

oops – I meant to post the above in the “you gotta speak up” thread. Sorry, folks.

Mockery is very effective, mad mockery even better.

Hurray for EFCA!

What a bunch of whiners. Toddlers who whine are annoying, but rich people whining is unbearable. That goes for Santelli and Kramer too.

I didn’t have a problem with the ad — I love it. It’s the “end of the world as we know it” BS from the idiots int he ad that I’m sick of at this point. I thought that was pretty clear?

billybugs | Wednesday March 4, 2009 09:35 am 12

must go prepare for the total breakdown of civilization !

dosido | Wednesday March 4, 2009 09:39 am 13

I’ve also got a fresh post up top on today’s Judiciary hearing and something that Sen. Whitehouse said about immunity for the law wonks out there…

tejanarusa | Wednesday March 4, 2009 10:25 am 18

Hi, Christy! I’m so glad to see this on the front page, even tho’ I’m late, as usual.

It made me sad to check back yesterday and see so few postings.

I love being able to find all your work in one place, but worry a little that i isn’t getting the exposure it did before. Your work on so many issues was what brought me here – and kept me here.

I’ve got to get off the computer and get going, but as a still-law-wonky type, I’ll be checking Judiciary hearing post on return.
Thanks for your work — even more now that you’re juggling so much more at home. (btw, your FIL is a lucky man. Bet he knows it, too)

robspierre | Wednesday March 4, 2009 10:59 am 19

What I don’t get is why the opposition thinks that the decline of civilization as CEOs have known it will strike us as a bad thing? What makes them think that I DON’T want to be like Europe? Longer vacations? Health care? Public transit? Decent coffee? What’s not to like? And frankly, a little Armageddon for the country-club set is just what I’m in the mood for.
