That’s not a change through time. If you like short comments, go to FDL Late Night. If you like long, pithy stuff, visit Emptywheel eg. comments by Mary, who by rights should have some of her comments posted as diaries but prefers to inhabit the comments instead. Also comments by selise, and others…. You’ll get to know who the wonks and wonkettes are.

Each spot on the Lake has its own community and subculture, but Jane sets the rules, and the lurking moderators keep things clean. Long may they live and prosper!

As for me, I live in Hawaii, so I am almost always late to the party, and can most often be found in EPU-land, which is FDL jargon for comments on a thread, like this one, that are posted after almost everyone has left for a newer thread.

A pardon is not an exoneration. So it doesn’t undo other penalties or losses which may have been suffered. Scooter could always argue that he should be re-instated but there is nothing automatic about such a decision.

Dumb question: even if he had gotten pardon, would his reinstatement to the bar have been a foregone conclusion or would the Bar Assoc be entitled to make its own call as to his moral and ethical suitability to be a member?

Hmmm. I’ll bet you a dollar to a doughnut that someone–possibly the Shooter himself–promised Scooter a pardon if he took the fall, and now they’re just trying to stroke his ego because he didn’t get one.

He’s probably the only one there who has a clue about how badly they screwed this up. So he did the sensible thing and got plastered.

Funny how those closest to the mess in the White House are the least visible. After most changes in administrations, law firms and think tanks and universities are climbing all over themselves to announce that they’ve snagged this or that former White House official.

Here, though, instead of it being a feather in someone’s cap, it appears to be more of a chain around their neck. “Thanks, but we’ll pass on this for now. It’s the economy, you know — income is waaayyy down, the endowment is waaayyy down, and we couldn’t possibly pay you what you are worth. . .”
