Where he alive today, Upton Sinclair, an avoid socialist, could easily have written several sequels to “The Jungle.” That’s what happens when people begin believing in conservative ideology and the lies of the Republican Party.

I agree, Millineryman.
did you catch Kirk Murphy’s post Saturday? Mercury in High-Fructose Corn Syrup. FDA did nothing for 5 years and afaik is still doing nothing about it. The agent who discovered the problem originally repeated her work after leaving the agency. Her results are now peer-reviewed and published.

Now, that’s damn scary! Mercury contamination in your Coca Cola! This isn’t stuff from China. This is HFCS from the good ol’ USA. I’m sure the Feds are sitting on it because making it public would cripple the industries that depend on it. I say: they deserve it! I also say: what better impetus for capital investment in the method that doesn’t use mercury to generate the reagents used to produce HFCS? Because there is one in commercial use. Seems like those inventors and investors should be rewarded for developing a mercury-free process, no? Ain’t that how it’s supposed to work?

Sigh. At least this issue is finally hitting the mainstream press. And peanut butter is something most parents–and their kids–can relate to. It’s not like it’s salmonella-tainted arugula. I hope this doesn’t go away anytime soon. It’s really time for the anti-regulatory chickens to come home to roost (over the peanut pile). No better way than endangering peoples’ kids (unfortunately).

There are a lot of ways we are unprotected from terrorist attacks. Water systems? Food, as you point out. Utilities? Let’s make a list.
Not in the mood for fear mongering. Evil under every rock? Is that how it is today?
No thanks.
I’m making some gumbo….and got wood for a fire and then we’re going watch a movie.
That’s enough for me this afternoon, since it’s a holiday and I’m spending the day with those I love.

It’s crazy, just crazy. Knowingly endangering people whether it’s for profit or for a political statement hold the same degree of guilt. Parnell is no different then a terrorist and should be treated as such.
